Do I need an archaeologist for my planning application?
Only if the planning authority or its archaeological advisor asks for one, or if your site has known heritage potential. We can give an early view on your site.
Do you write heritage statements?
Yes. We prepare heritage statements and heritage impact assessments for listed buildings, conservation areas and sensitive sites, quoted as a fixed fee.
What areas does MAP cover?
We are based in Malton, North Yorkshire, and work across Yorkshire and Northern England.
Is MAP a CIfA Registered Organisation?
Yes. MAP Archaeological Practice is a Chartered Institute for Archaeologists Registered Organisation.
How much does archaeological work cost?
Costs depend on the site, the scope required by the planning authority and the programme. Contact us with your site details for a tailored quotation.
How quickly can you start?
It depends on current commitments and the approvals needed. Tell us your programme and we will confirm availability.
What is the difference between evaluation and excavation?
Evaluation tests whether archaeology is present and significant. Excavation fully investigates and records remains that will be affected.
Can you discharge archaeological planning conditions?
We deliver the WSIs, fieldwork and reports that planning authorities need to discharge archaeological conditions.
Do you work with homeowners on small projects?
Yes. We regularly carry out watching briefs and building recording for extensions and conversions.
